Meet the 2005 winners

The Woodbury High School Alumni Association would like to announce the 2004 winners of the Distinguished Alumni Award.  

Woodbury High School Alumni Association Selects the following as winners of the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award:

John (Chip) Lohmiller and Benjamin Effinger

Chip Lohmiller is a 1984 graduate of Woodbury High School. Selected in the 2nd round of the 1988 NFL draft after a record setting career at the University of Minnesota; he set many NFL and NFC records for his kicking. He played for the Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams before retiring in 1993. Chip helped lead the Red Skins to a super bowl win in 1992.

Since retiring, Chip has been active in numerous community and charitable activities. He lives in Cross Lake with his wife Kari and four daughters and is the owner of Crosslake Property Solutions. Lohmiller is the present head coach of the Pequot Lakes Patriots Football Team.

2002 Graduate Ben Effinger is currently stationed at Andrews AFB, MD, where he is involved in providing security for the President and Air Force One. He has served one tour of duty in Iraq and previously was stationed at Minot AFB, ND. Since graduation, Ben has been involved in numerous volunteer activities including: working with local elementary schools, Habitat for Humanity, reading to children, meals on wheels and serving as campaign coordinator for the Combined Federal Campaign. He received the Air Force Achievement Medal and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal along with being selected as Airman of the Quarter.

SRA Effinger was praised for not only his many accomplishments but for balancing all of this with a healthy family relationship. He is currently completing work on his Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and devoting himself to community service.
