About
the WHS Memorial Garden
The Memorial Garden project was
the brainchild of Principal Linda Plante.
During a meeting with her last year, she brought up a wonderful
concept: to create a memorial to commemorate the students that had
attended WHS. After that initial meeting, several options were discussed, along
with several locations. The
primary site chosen was the front of the high school, which was
still in disarray with the current construction project.
The main school entrance still consisted of the large concrete
planters, which had not had a great deal of attention in the last
several years. After construction had been completed, the
main entrance to the school was landscaped and there was no space
for the Memorial Garden. Soon
after that time a larger site was proposed.
